Cookie Salad

This is an absolutely wonderful Salad.. Kinda half desert and half salad.
But it does not look real  good!  The ground up Oreos look like grey bits of something floating in a custard.

The pudding...

1 Cup of sugar
1/2 cup of Corn Starch
1/2 teaspoon Salt
4 cups of Milk
4 egg yolks, Slightly beaten
3 Tablespoons Butter
1 Tablespoon Vanilla

In Saucepan, combine sugar, cornstarch and salt.  Stir in Milk, blending until smooth.  Cook over medium heat until mixture boils and thickens, stirring constantly.  Boil 2 minutes; remove from heat.  Blend a small amount of hot mixture into the egg yolks.  Add the egg yolks to the custard.  Return to heat until the mixture just begins to bubble.  Remove from heat; stir in margarine and vanilla.

While the mixture is cooling, prepare the salad part

1 can Pineapple (large)
400 grams Oreo Cookies
1 cup Maraschino Cherries
1 container of whipped topping

You can use a can of pineapple chunks, or I prefer buying a can of pineapple rings and cutting them up myself.  You get a better quality of pineapple in the rings.  You need a large can, 820 gms.

3 bananas cut up into bite size pieces

Cut up the Oreo Cookies  into large bite size pieces (if you do it to small they will totally dissolve) I use a roll and a half of the cookies.. That's about 400 grams.

Cut up the Cherries

When the pudding has cooled a bit mix in all the other goodies and put into a serving bowl, sprinkle the cherries on the top  Cover with Saran wrap and put in the fridge for a few hours to firm up.
