 Learning Spanish in Cuernavaca.

Like everything else in this world there are some very good Spanish Language Schools in Cuernavaca. Some decent ones and some that are not so good.  Its hard to tell looking at a web site the quality of the education you will get at a school in a foreign city far away from home.  For most of you this will be a once in a lifetime opportunity and you want to make the best of it.  One of the most important factors of selecting a school is seldom mentioned on their web sites.  And, that is the quality of the teachers.  Do they just pick out someone looking for a job and give them a book and pay them entry level wages?  Or do they have an experienced group of well paid teachers who have been teaching for several years. Trust me you don't want to get a teacher who can not speak a word of English and who is starting his first day of teaching.  Been there done that.

I have attended 4 schools here in Cuernavaca and talked to people people who attended other schools and some who have taught at schools in the city.  Out of all of the deserving schools and there are many more good ones then I am listing here,   I  picked two to recommend.  The Spanish Language Institute and Cemanahuac.

Cemanahuac is one of the largest and oldest schools in Cuernavaca.  They are one of a small group of schools that started the teaching Spanish boom here in Cuernavaca.  Quality of teaching is excellent, they also have numerous trips and side events. Their extra curriculum activities are the best in the city.  The school is also very socially active in the community and they also have a separate much smaller campus in a small village in the mountains.  Cemanahuac has a student body of about 1/2 adults and 1/2 college students.

The Spanish Language Institute is a much smaller school. It is located in a new building that they had built just for them.  (most schools are in large houses) The biggest advantage to going to SLI is that it is small,  within two days you will know most of the teachers, students and administrators.  It is a very small, happy group of people.  You have a fun time going to classes.  They have trips, just not as many as Cemanahuac.  Most of the teachers have been at this school for 5-10 years.  They have arguably the best group of teachers in the city. They cater mostly to adults who want to learn Spanish while they do offer college credits and do get the occasional college student its not the main focus of the school.  (except for summer vacations)

I do get a small commission for recommending students to a school (it helps pay for this web site) so if you decided to attend one of these schools please let me know and tell the school that one of the reasons you picked them was because of my recommendations.  And if it does happen that you are not happy with either of these schools I can arrange a transfer to a different school with no loss of money.  I will also tell you that in 4 years of recommending students I have never had that happen.

Listed below are some other web pages that I have designed to help you with coming to Cuernavaca and learning Spanish.
