A.P.A.C. are the initials of the Animal
Protection Association of Cuernavaca a private, charitable, non-profit
organization founded in 1964. APAC is affiliated with the
World Society of the Protection of Animals. APAC'S principal activity is the maintenance of the PHILIP E.
KAHAN ANIMAL SHELTER, located on almost an acre of land and
where we keep as many as 150 dogs and 75 cats.
APAC'S cooperates with local
authorities in the campaign to control rabies and also provides low cost
medical out-patient services such as neutering, inoculations, board and
consultations.
The Shelter is open from 9:30 to 5 on
Weekdays and until 1 PM on Saturday.
This photo shows some of the dog
pens.
Our principal goal is to offer food,
medical attention, shelter, vaccinations, and sterilization for the
homeless dogs and cats, until we can find them a loving home.
We also need voluntaries to talk about animals in schools and/or to help
at the shelter.
This photo shows one of the volunteers doing the daily feeding of
the dogs.
APAC also operates a small
store that sells itmes that have been donated to the shelter. The
store is Called the Bazar de los Animales and is located on Morelos Sur,
just up the hill from the Commercial Mexicana almost at the corner of
Abasolo.
The shelter also boards pets for people on vacation. And
they have a large fenced in field where the dogs get to run around once
a day.
